Greetings
This year I've been accepted as a mentor for a humanitarian service project in Thailand and Taylor is coming with me. Our team is going to be in a small Moken community. The community is comprised of about 50 families with 6-7 people per family which runs a total of about 300 people in the entire community. The Moken people were sea nomads, they lived and made their livelihood on the water. However, the 2004 tsunami proved particularly devastating to the Mokens. The tsunami took their boats, and with it went their way of life.
These people have many serious problems with severe malnutrition at the forefront. Their fishing grounds have been made off limits by the Thai government so they only catch enough fish to keep themselves partially fed, and they rely largely upon washed up shellfish for food. Three years ago their child mortality rate was that 1 in 3 children would die before they reached the age of 2. They are refused medical treatment, they so desperately need, because they are not Thai citizens. Three years ago, not a single person in the entire Moken community had spent one day at school. Our goal as a team this year is to help them hold onto their rare and beautiful culture while also, providing humanitarian relief to these people who so desperately need it.

I'm lucky to have this opportunity but am in need of some help with the expense of this trip. If you are willing and able to donate I'd be grateful. You can go to the sites donate to a participants page using my registration number #406:

I thought I would share some pics
from our family pictures we just had taken. Our family continues to grow and in one month this picture will be obsolete when Toni has her baby. We are so blessed and love our grandkids sooo much!

Dani has been in the MTC for 5 weeks tomorrow. She is doing great and has already been called as the coordinating sister in her branch. She is in a threesome and we love to get her e-mails each week. If you could keep her in your prayers as she continues to serve we would be grateful.

Dani has decided to hang up her basketball shoes and go on a mission. She is just about ready to turn her papers in. She just has to get her physical and dentist appointment done. I know she will be a great missionary. We will miss her but are anxious for the blessings of having a missionary out in the field. We will keep you posted on when she receives her call.
